About Our Team
Ms. Hubby
Hey y’all! I’m Ms. Hubby, and I’m so excited to be back at SSCMS this year! This is my second year as a school counselor and my fifth year in education. I will be working with all of the seventh grade, as well as sixth grade girls and nonbinary students. I got my bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Science from the University of Georgia and my Master’s in School Counseling from Georgia State University. I love being outside, spending time with friends and family, and watching football and soccer! I also have a little mutt named Junie that I love very much. My job as a school counselor is to make sure you have all the academic, college and career, and social/emotional support you need to succeed here at Sandy Springs and beyond. I will do all I can to make sure you feel loved and supported as a student and a person. I am here for you, so fill out the request form if you would like to meet. Let’s make it a fantastic year!
Ms. Fernandez
Hello Sandy Springs Charter Middle School Community!
My name is Cindy Fernandez, and I am thrilled to join you as a school counselor. This school year, I will be working with all 8th-graders and 6th-grade boys. I bring over nine years of experience in education, having served as both a math teacher and a counselor across middle and high school levels. My journey began in the vibrant city of New York, where I was born and raised. Before transitioning into education, I gained valuable insights from working in retail and accounting, experiences that have enriched my understanding of diverse perspectives and strengthened my problem-solving skills. My philosophy as a school counselor is rooted in the belief that every student has the potential to grow and succeed. I firmly advocate the growth mindset, encouraging students to view challenges as opportunities for learning and development. I strive to foster a positive outlook on life and inspire resilience, helping students navigate through obstacles with confidence and determination. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy yoga, walking, and working out. I am also an avid plant enthusiast and love spending time with my dog, King. Books and coffee are my go-to companions for relaxation and inspiration.
I look forward to building positive and supportive relationships with all staff, parents, and students. Let's make this school year a remarkable journey of growth and achievement together!
